Why The Broken Tine?

We are a group of highly educated professionals that have spent decades in corporate America.  While pursuing our careers, we have seen the growing need for basic off-grid, homesteading, self-defense and self-reliance skills that have always come natural to us thanks to our country roots.

Our courses are designed to meet students at their skill level, ensuring that all students have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Beginner?

Our beginner courses are designed to help students learn how to safely handle firearms, work with electricity, build structures, & create sustainable food production.

Students progress through a series of courses, each building on the skills learned in the previous class.

Common questions about FIREARM COURSES

  • Full size, compact or sub compact semi-auto handguns are preferred
  • Micro compacts (Sig Sauer P365, Springfield Hellcat, etc) are great carry guns, but are rough for all day trainings.  If you have one, bring it though.  It's always good to know how your every day carry weapon will perform.
  • 9mm is the preferred caliber, but we will train you on whatever firearm you regularly use
  • Double action revolver - 6-shot recommended

  • 300 rounds minimum - Full metal jacket is recommended.
  • We will have a limited supply of 9mm ammunition on hand.  If needed, your instructor can provide you with ammunition.  You will be charged at the end of the day for any ammunition you used during the course.

  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • Long sleeves & loose fitting or stretchy long pants are recommended
  • Belt - riggers belt, thick leather belt to hold up pants and gear in place
  • Hat or ball-cap
  • Hair ties if you have long hair.
  • Shoes or boots - Should be comfortable and provide good support
  • Knee pads are optional

  • Electronic ear protection if you have it
  • Holster - dominant hand - Outside waist band or tactical holster is ok.  Should be made specifically for the make & model of weapon you will be using
  • Magazine pouches - should hold 2 magazines on your belt
  • Speed loader pouches for revolvers
  • 3-4 magazines for semi-auto pistols
  • 4-6 speed loaders for revolvers
  • Small tactical flashlight

At this time, we do not rent firearms.

Professional instruction, targets, basic ear protection (softies), eye protection, range time, bottled water, and a bbq plate lunch are included in the cost of your tuition.
